We report back from our first alumni-weekend
22 former delegates who attended World Model UNs in Melbourne (2013), Vancouver (2012), Singapore (2011) and New York (2010) got together in Inzell for our very first alumni-weekend, which from now on is going to take place on a yearly basis.
In several working groups, such as fundraising, PR, admission process and Isar-MUN, we brainstormed ideas in order to rework the present structures and activities of the MUNAM – association. During that process, the delegates of 2013 who just came back from their Harvard WorldMUN in Melbourne were able to share their Model UN experience. Their feedback will help to intensify the preparation for the 2014 delegation that is going to be selected in June.
Nevertheless there was enough time for fun activities in order to build up our team spirit, get to know other alumni and exchange Model UN experiences of several generations. We stayed in a sport camp which included a big gymnasium. Regardless of the rainy weather we played soccer, had heated matches at the ping-pong table and used the swimming pool for nocturnal swimming activities – Inzell catered to all tastes. In the evenings we came together in the common room to enjoy wine, beer and singing.
On Sunday morning the output of the working groups was presented. The results are going to be put into practice during the following weeks. Summing it up, we want to work together towards shaping MUNAM as an association with close cooperation between current delegates and alumni and improve transparency regarding the structure and fields of responsibility of the members of MUNAM.
