After MUNAM Delegates and Alumni had paid the Russian consulate general a visit in November 2018, they got the chance to expand their impressions of diplomatic day-to-day business in late March 2019: following an invitation by the MUNAM board, two high-ranking members of the Canadian Embassy in Berlin agreed to come to Munich for a presentation about various aspects of Canadian foreign policy and a Q&A session. The head of the political and economic section and the counsellor on migration matters delivered insightful and entertaining talks and willingly answered the many questions from the audience. Our society members were particularly interested in Canada’s advocacy for gender equality and their immigration system.
Our meeting ended in a more informal way afterwards when the
career diplomats indulged in conversation over some “Brezn” and beer.
Shortly before the event, we were presented with the pleasant opportunity to collaborate with a professor of the Bavarian School of Public Policy at TUM who made one of the university’s prestigious halls available and had many of his students join the auditorium.
MUNAM wholeheartedly thanks both the Canadian Embassy and the Bavarian School for Public Policy for their support which made this event so very thrilling for Delegates, Alumni and guests involved.
